Front Porch Patriotic Pictures
Front porches and patriotic pictures go together like apple pie and Chevrolet (so the song goes).
We like collecting photos of porches decked out in Old Glory, patriotic buntings, and the good 'ole red, white, and blue.
Flying Old Glory never goes out of style any time of year and there are also lots of patriotic holidays to celebrate by decorating your front porch.
Enjoy these patriotic photos and please send us your patriotic porch pictures so we can share them with others.

America, The Beautiful
Lyrics by Katharine Lee Bates - 1913
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

Lovely porch
Although you can only see a bit of the bunting in this photo, we couldn't resist sharing it with you.
Wouldn't you love to spend an afternoon on this porch just rocking the time away?
I know Mary and I would.

Dave and I like to have a patriotic porch for Memorial Day.
We share with you how we made the "We Shall Not Forget" decoration.

Where Can You Find Some of the Best Patriotic Pictures?
Our nation's capital, of course!
The Star Spangled Banner's Not-So-Well-Known Last Stanza
Did you know there were more stanzas than the one we normally sing?
These lyrics are by Francis Scott Key, 1814.
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Flag Etiquette Reminders
When flying the American flag at night, remember it must be lit directly.
That means it must have a light shining directly upon it.
Light from your porch lights do not suffice.
I used a solar spotlight to shine on a relative's flag that she flies at night.
Just make sure it is bright enough to light the flag.
If using small American flags on dowels on your porch, in your yard, or in your landscaping, make sure they do not touch the ground or foliage.
Treat them in the same manner as you would a full-sized American flag.
The flag should fly free, unencumbered.
When hung on your porch wall, the union should be at the top and to the viewer's left (or the flag's own right).
The American flag should never be used as a decoration. Red, white, and blue striped bunting was made for this reason.
Did you know that on bunting, the blue stripe should be at the top.
