The first day of spring is almost upon us.
Daffodils popping up, buds bursting out, and dogs beginning to shed (somewhere) - all signs of spring!
Here in the Nashville area, we've had daffodils blooming for several weeks already and our hyacinths are budding as well.

How about a springtime porch with a tulip theme?
Take a look at the springtime porch we created with a tulip theme.
Get ideas on how you might do the same.
Please stop by our tulip-theme post.
A cheerful home indeed!
Do you see the sunny yellow tulips in the front yard above?
Nothing says "welcome, spring" more.
See the hyacinths on the yellow stand?
Never did we know how fragrant hyacinths are!
If you enjoy the fragrance of lilacs, then you'll be a fan of hyacinths too.
A heavenly smell for the porch or indoors.

Do you enjoy putting a bit of green on your porch for St. Patrick's Day?
We have some fresh ideas for you on decorating for St. Patrick's.
We often take porch railings for granted but they can add immense curb appeal as well as safety to your porch.
Choosing the right railing design to match your home's architecture is a relatively easy way to upgrade your home's appearance.
Square, rectangular, or turned balusters like those shown below are typical on most homes.
Classic turned balusters with painted top rail
Victorian-style homes usually use turned, square, or sawn balusters as depicted below.
Often, they are painted to match the exterior trim on the porch and home.

For a more modern look, stainless steel cable railings may be something to consider.

Thinking of building a new porch or perhaps just remodeling your existing one?
Proper planning of your project will ensure many years of enjoyment and add value to your property.
We interview Gregory Tatsch, founder of Vintage Woodworks, who explains the number one
consideration when building or remodeling your porch, and other important requirements
you need to consider, from the size of your porch to positioning columns and railings.

Old mailbox on front porch
There was a time when mail was delivered to the porch in mailboxes like the one above.
We wonder if mail is delivered to homeowners' porches anymore. Do you know?
Speaking of mail, do you know how seven very important words in the Constitution and the US Post Office are related?
There's only one way to find out and that is to grab a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, or other
favorite drink, and then sit back and listen to this enlightening podcast about how the US Post Office grew America from Tracing the Path with Dan R Morris.
Porch Humor: We had a friend that loved to lie in front of our front door all day. His name was Mat.
How Can We Create a Remarkable Life?
Do you ever think how powerful the word "choose" is in our lives?
- We have the power to choose to lift someone up or tear someone down.
- We have the power to choose the pursuit of happiness or despair.
- We have the power to choose to change our circumstances or stay the course.
- We have the power to think positively or chase negative thoughts.
Not saying the choices we make are an easy journey as many are not.
But even in the worst of times or the darkest hours, it's a comfort that we can use the power of choice.
We value and appreciate our relationships with our sponsors. May sound corny, but it's true!
