Front Porch Appeal - Porch News and Ideas for Porch LoversIssue #34 May 2012May days have almost come and gone. It has been quite a month and we are excited to share a new feature on Front Porch Ideas and More. More details below.More importantly, this coming weekend celebrates Memorial Day and we take time to say thanks to our military and take a moment to remember and honor the sacrifice of so many that paid the ultimate price for our freedom. If you have a family member, neighbor, friend, or acquaintance that is a WWII veteran, be sure to check out Honor Flight. It is a wonderful organization that takes our veterans to the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. at no cost to the veteran. Mary and I participated in such an event some time ago and it was a wonderful experience. Please help spread the word. Our WWII veterans are dying at the rate of over 1000 per day; there is not much time left. We can't all be heroes. Some of us have to stand on the curb and clap as they go by. - Will RogersIconic American front porchWhat's Inside Our May 2012 EditionFront Porch Designs IllustratorWe have been working on this project for quite some time and are excited to share it with you.We always find it difficult to explain how a new or remodeled porch will change the overall appeal of a home. We know it can be dramatic, but how do you convey that to someone? We found a way, our Front Porch Designs Illustrator. Using a basic ranch and two-story home, we show over 30 different porch designs, from small porticos to large expansive porches (and everything in between). Get landscaping and walkway ideas too. We encourage you to take a few minutes and use our Porch Illustrator (one-story) and Porch Illustrator (two-story). Let us know your thoughts; we'd love to hear from you. Project - Homemade Porch CurtainsOutdoor curtains are perfect for almost any porch. Lori shows us how she used Tracy's tutorial (which we featured in a previous issue) to make these wonderful porch curtains. You will be delighted to know it is easy to do and you will love the results. Porch curtains are very popular and not only add charm but also can provide protection from wind and rain to extend your porch sitting time!
