Mary and I thoroughly enjoy finding a variety of front yard landscaping ideas for you. We try to capture inspiring porch landscaping on our travels across the country. Landscaping Ideas and Pictures for YouThe right landscaping around your porch is like icing on the cake. Cake is always good, but the icing makes it delicious! Spaces beside porches make excellent planting areas. Take note of the various heights of plants as they cascade back toward the house. Also, creating a focal point like this statue in your landscaping adds additional interest and perspective. I'm partial to the English-type garden look and think this really complements the porch. Like the statue in the photo above, the fence adds a quaint look to an otherwise ordinary planting area. I would prefer to have a small tree or shrub near the porch stairs but theirs adds a hint of privacy. You'll see ivy growing across staircases typically on southern porches. It really gives the entire front a very natural and clean look. This isn't feasible in all climate zones nor would it work across all porch steps. I have seen variations of this and it is something to consider depending on where you live.
Be sure to take the time to prune your plants to keep your beautiful landscaping looking neat and fresh.

Front porch landscaping ideas for a beach house should be schemes that are as light as the ocean! The plantings around this porch are airy and the evergreens add stability to the otherwise more fragile-looking plants. Not everyone has a large front yard. This is an easy maintenance landscaping scheme and will look good throughout the entire year. You could plant higher growing annuals behind the evergreens for more summer color. Or, add potted plants to create color also. Exquisite in my eyes! Makes you want to take your time getting to the front door with so much color and so many interesting combinations. Want to Make Some Cool Garden Art?Although not perfect, our whimsical garden art is fun to see sitting along the tree line of our lot. Made from melted pony beads, we share our tutorial for this DIY yard art. This is a very good example of using the same color in the landscaping but adding vibrant colors on the porch. The advantage is that you can change out the annual plantings on the porch year-to-year to give your home a different look. An interesting small porch with a double stair case. Again, if you don't have a large front yard make the most of it. The fence and yellow blooming plants really dress up the front. The tree in the middle, once grown, will add privacy to the entrance.
