So Many Mobile Home Porch Skirting Options

There is little difference between a condo, a traditional home amd a mobile home when it comes to porch skirting. In both cases there exists a gap between a porch and the ground. And while it doesn't look messy if you don't store anything in that space, the gap is not nearly as pleasing an an enclosed space.

Porch skirting serves both aesthetic and functional purposes, covering the open space beneath a porch to enhance curb appeal and prevent animals from nesting underneath.

When you create a panel door in porch skirting, it then serves as hidden storage for all the things you don't really want the neighbors to see or complain about. :)

Here are some materials you can use for you mobile home porch skirting:

Traditional Skirting Options

Lattice Panels:

A classic choice, available in wood or vinyl, with various patterns. You can normally get lattice panels in 4' sections and you'll need a special knife or a saw to make the cuts. But you can normally put nails into the underside of the deck and hang the vinyl from the nails.

Whether wood or vinyl, lattice panels are easy to cut, are lightweight and small enough to put in the backseat of the car when at Lowes.

Wood Slats or Pickets (not pictured):

Fence pickets are often the least expensive types of wood at the hardware store. To use them you'd have to cut them for either horizontal or vertical alignment, or in a decorative pattern.

If the underbelly of your mobile home is enclosed by a belly board that has vertical seams, painted fence pickets might look very similar.

Faux Brick or Stone:

Nothing looks more like a traditional home foundation than this type skirting.

They are normally made from a lightweight polyurethane which makes them both cost effective and easy to install. And polyurethane can withstand elements like wind, heat, cold temps and moisture.

You can traditionally find three or four different kinds of faux stone and brick. They also come in a variety of colors depending on what you need. If you've built a brick foundation for your mobile home, the faux brick skirting is perfect.

Decorative Metal Panels (not pictured):

This type of skirting is a bit more difficult to find and a bit more expensive. Laser-cut aluminum or steel panels add a modern or ornate touch. One of the big drawbacks is the difficulty in cutting them as the cut metal is super sharp

Rustic or Farmhouse Skirting Styles

Barnwood or Reclaimed Wood:

While this is often more expensive and harder to find it definitely adds a rustic and weathered look. Sometimes Facebook Marketplace is the only place to find it.

Corrugated Metal Sheets:

These metal sheets are always available at the hardware store. You'll most often see them used in above ground landscaping planters or as shed roof material.

Budget-Friendly or DIY Ideas:

PVC or Vinyl Panels:

Similar to lattice, these are light-weight, Weather-resistant and easy to install.

Painted Plywood with Cutouts:

Can be custom-designed and painted to match the house.

Chicken Wire with Climbing Plants:

The simplest and sometimes most beautiful, chicken wire allows vines like Morning Glory to fill in the cavities and provide green space and flowers.

To install them you just dig a little trench for the bottom of the chicken wire to sit in. Then attach it under the deck and plant vines next to it.
